B 250 Lesson 3 Weekly Reflection
No narrative assignments this week. I’m sad. but I’m finally writing my reflection on time!
This week, our assignments revolved around choosing a host and site builder. This actually wasn’t that hard because I’ve done it before. About a year ago, I was contracting for a member of my ward building a web business. The WordPress site builder was already chosen before I showed up, but I got to help select Blue Host as the home for our site.
And I tell you, you can sink a lot of time into hosting research. There are just so many features and providers and such. We eventually had to just give up and pick one that looked good.
So, due to prior site-building experience, I came to my B 250 class rather biased toward WordPress and Blue Host. And fortunately, those two stack up pretty well against their respective competitions, so I was able to justifiably choose them again for my classwork. But at the same time, the process of shopping around was an eye-opener (or re-opener). There are a lot of interesting options out there, and I had times when I was actually tempted to abandon each of my champion candidates.
